Preparing “down there” for birth and healing postpartum

Dr. Lauren of Elemental Chiropractic is here to help assist you through this important transition. We believe that every mama should be able to truly enjoy pregnancy and postpartum without the fear of peezing (pee-sneezing). “We have this thing where we tell women, ‘Well, you’re six weeks postpartum and now we don’t need to see you—you’ll be fine.’ But not all women feel fine after six weeks nor are ready to go back to work, and they aren’t crazy.” - Janis Miller, associate professor at the U-M School of Nursing…and we are here to change that!

PRENATAL CARE

During pregnancy, ideally at 30-36 weeks pregnant, we will provide evaluation and treatment for birth positioning options, perineal preparation, manual therapy, and preventative exercises for improved postpartum recovery. You will learn to improve pelvic floor muscle awareness to enhance your mindfulness techniques and ability to lengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Understand and practice laboring positions that more easily allow the pelvic floor to lengthen and the bony anatomy to open

POSTPARTUM CARE

Around 6 weeks after delivery, we’ll do follow-up evaluation and treatment to assist with pelvic floor function, pain with sex, diastasis recti, incontinence, vaginal wall integrity (pelvic organ prolapse), pelvic pain, scar healing, movement to help with neck/upper back pain due to feeding, and safe return to activities and exercise.

Mama’s Pelvic Floor : Preparing Down There for Birth Program

PREparing down there for birth program - $450 FOR 3 VISITS

Are you a first time mom and terrified of having a perineal tear or want to know how to reduce your risk for an episiotomy?

Are you preparing for a VBAC and were told your pelvis is too small or your baby “got stuck” in your previous birth and now you want to prepare down there to help baby shimmy and move its way out?

Or maybe you overall feel great but just want a little TLC for down there so you feel more confident and prepared for birth.

Think of this as the no-BS childbirth education for your pelvic floor that includes three sessions to help you prepare down there for birth:

  • Birth Preparation Exploration (90 minutes) - Ideally this is done around 30-33 weeks pregnant but can be done both earlier and later to help you get movin’ and groovin’ in preparation for the big day. We’ll talk about your birth desires, goals, and what you do (and do NOT) want in labor! From there you can get an assessment and plan of action to help you meet those goals!

  • Prepare for the Best (60 minutes): This session is planned around week 35 of pregnancy and will help you prepare for the physical aspects of labor that you may not have thought about. It will leave you feeling prepared and ready to conquer birth rather than fearful of the unknown.

  • Countdown to Birth-Day Visit (60 minutes): This session is planned around 37 weeks of pregnancy and focuses on helping you move in ways to help the baby shimmy it’s way into the pelvis (engage) so you are prepared and ready to go when the baby signals it’s time!

What to expect:

  • Exercises (aka labor positions) to release your inner confidence so you feel supported to move during labor in ways that will not only help down there open but can also relieve any worries you might have about giving birth with lightning crotch, back pain or previous disc issue

  • Perineal massage that connects the mind and the body to not only prepare down there for the natural stretching of labor but help you mentally prepare for that good ole “ring of fire”

  • Hands-on techniques to restore balance to your ever-changing body. Think of this as a magical time where we work on the muscles and ligaments surrounding the pelvis to help open the low back and pelvis so you leave saying “ahh” and feel like you can conquer the world
